Pastor Emeritus: J.O. and Juanita Purcell
Dec 31, 2015, J.O. retired as pastor of the church. As founding pastor he has been honored with the title Pastor Emeritus. J.O. and his wife, Juanita have just culminated 50 years of pastoral ministry together.
J.O.’s first ministry was at Bible Baptist Church of Romeoville, IL which he started during his last year as a student at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Il. They stayed there over fourteen years and saw the church grow from 38 people meeting in the basement of their home to over 800.
His second ministry was at Heritage Baptist Church in Lakeland, Fl. They started meeting in a music conservatory with 75 people and stayed there 18 years to see it grow to over 800 in attendance. During their ministry there Juanita started writing ladies Bible studies and started various other ladies ministries.
After serving as the State Representative for the GABBC churches in Wisconsin for 5 years, they started Tri County Baptist Church with 11 people 12 years ago.
J.O. has served on the GABBC Council of 18 for over 30 years and served in state ministries many years. Juanita has written 12 ladies Bible study books and 2 ladies devotionals.
J.O. and Juanita have 3 married sons, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way. J.O. and Juanita have a passion to reach people for Christ and teach God’s Word. J.O. also likes to read, fish and play golf. Juanita likes to teach ladies Bible studies, plan ladies events in the church and play golf. She always thinking about the next book she may write.
There life’s verses are Proverbs 3:5-6 and Hebrews 13:5-6. God has proven these verses to be real and exciting in lives many times in their 61 years together.
