Amazing Grace.  I thought I understood it until I began to read Phillip Yancey's book What's So Amazing About Grace?  It is really what sets Christianity apart from all other religions.   The world doesn't understand it, but it's what it longs for.

God's love came for me when I didn't deserve it, so how can I best demonstrate it to others?  Yancey writes with great description and sends me into deep thought.  It's worth a read.

Are you a counselor?  The answer is yes, we give counsel every day to ourselves, our families, and our friends.  So the real question is are you a good counselor?  The answer to that lies in where you base your counsel.  God's Word is fully sufficient to cover the problems we face, and a wise counselor will seek to give instruction from the Bible to achieve God's goals for life.  I Corinthians 10:13 says, "No temptation has overtaken you

Colossians 1:9-10 is a great example of a God-centered prayer for ourselves, our family, and our friends.  "We have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God."

This is a sure way to maintain a life of godliness.

The gospel is good news for sinners, and it continues to be good news for each of us who has been redeemed.  The blood of Christ not only saves us from the punishment of our sin but also gives us the power to live out our lives in sanctification to Him.

Jerry Bridges said in his book Respectable Sins, "Preach the gospel to yourself every day."    This allows us to address and deal with the sin that is still present in our lives.  What

"For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day."

II Corinthians 4:15-16
